SSL certificates for custom domains

Overview

When creating a custom domain, TwicPics issues an SSL certificate for each custom domain to enhance security and identity verification. This certificate is signed by a third-party and is essential for using HTTPS with your custom domains.

The process consist in adding a DNS record (CNAME) to your domain provider to prove the domain ownership.

Certificat activation and renewal: When the DNS record (CNAME) is added TwicPics will automatically issue your SSL certificat. And TwicPics automatically renews your certificate each year.

⚠️ Important: Do not remove the DNS record (CNAME) as it must remain in place for the certificate to be renewed before expiration.


Retrieving Your DNS Record (CNAME)

If the CNAME record is accidentally removed, you will receive an alert from our team. To retrieve and re-add your DNS record:

  1. Navigate to the TwicPics back-office and access your workspace.

  2. Go to the 'Domain' section and click the three dots "..." adjacent to the desired custom domain, and select "custom domain settings":

  • Performance and SEO: Modern browsers and search engines favor HTTPS-enabled sites, often providing a ranking boost in search results. Securely delivering assets via HTTPS can also improve load times through protocols like HTTP/2, which requires encryption.

  • Compliance: SSL certificates help you meet regulatory requirements that mandate the protection of user data during transmission.
